City’s Bishop Lavis Public Housing maintenance site visit

The City is investing in maintenance, repairs and upgrades of more than R1,2 billion over the next few years at its Community Residential Units across the metro. Human Settlements Mayco Member Councillor Carl Pophaim recently visited a number of the units in Bishop Lavis to check on the maintenance work being carried out. 

'We visited the Nooitgedacht, Brent, Clyde, Arend, Eben, Deon, Frederick, Glen, Hendrick and Isak courts to check on the ongoing maintenance work. We recently launched a Public Housing campaign to enhance safety and maintenance at our residential units in a dignified manner. I was able to see the bricklayers, carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers carrying out their work at the units. We want the tenants who live in units to be comfortable and secure. 

'As one of South Africa's largest landlords, we take the wellbeing of our tenants extremely seriously. I want to remind our tenants: if you see something, say something and report it to 021 480 7700. Anonymous tip-offs are welcomed. Public housing is a team effort and we thank Team Cape Town for standing with us to create dignified, secure living spaces,' said Councillor Pophaim.
